NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 28, 2023) – Upcoming Pop artist, Maiz is gearing up to release her debut EP titled, Short Circuit. The highly anticipated release chronicles the journey of two energies colliding causing a fire that eventually fizzles out. As an early listen to the project, the EP features two instant gratification tracks.
The first instant gratification track, “Runners High” was released today on streaming platforms and sets the stage for the next track, “Love Language” (coming Friday, August 25), leading up to the EP release on Friday, September 15, 2023.
Maiz worked closely with Atlanta-based producer, Bruddaondabeat, whom she's been working with since she was 17, to create the project. Although they had a vast library of songs to choose from, they opted to create six new ones and only use one that they had previously recorded.
Maiz's inspiration for Short Circuit came after choosing the songs for the EP. She wanted the title to reflect the theme of heartbreak, but also have a metaphorical meaning. "Short Circuit" refers to the accidental connection of two electrical currents of different potential, resulting in a fire, which parallels the rush of two energies coming together in a relationship.
"Runners High" is a grungy pop track that explores the thrill of chasing after someone who seems to be unattainable, while "Love Language" is a soft pop song that emphasizes the importance of understanding one another's needs to truly connect and build strong bonds.
“I want listeners to feel connected to me after hearing this project,” said Maiz. “I want them to be able to relate and truly feel like the story is theirs to interpret. Theirs to sing. Theirs to cry to. Theirs as much as this music is mine.”

About Maiz:
Maiz always knew what she wanted to be when she grew up: an artist. Born and raised in a small town with only one red light, she started her music career at the young age of 12 by taking guitar lessons from her neighbor. It didn't take long for Maiz to develop her unique sound and songwriting techniques, which were heavily influenced by her love for pop and alternative music.
